Utilizing a blog as a tool and medium for students to write is a great way to get the authentic writing from a student, especially a student who we may refer to as a 'reluctant' writer. We all know that we have them, the student who can write, but who has a terrible time getting their thoughts on the page. What I have learned, is the more I integrate web based technologies into my classroom, I am getting the kids more engaged than ever before. They are LOVING using a wiki for different assignments, and now with the blog they will be allowed to have an audience and a purpose for their writing. Blogs are awesome. I have had a personal blog that I have kept for many years as a way for people to keep track of me, and the happenings with the Lonie. Now, has it been SUPER hard to keep up with it, yes. Life happens, and that is okay, and there are now other tools I use so people can keep up with the Lonie, however the blog still exists! Feel free to check it out. I am also an avid photographer, so I have another blog to showcase some of my photography for family and friends! Oh the possibilities!
